Lush Sikkim Girls Body Lotion

Ed’s note: Even though we were given this at the Lush Christmas blogger event, our reviews are honest opinions. We don’t believe in sugar coating unless it’s on our food. Our guinea pig today is our awesome contributor, Andrea Reitano.

I’ve been on the lookout for an everyday, light, cruelty-free moisturiser. Body butters don’t have the same results in summer as they do winter. In winter they make my skin feel nourished and revitalised, but in summer they don’t absorb as well because of the heat and I wind up feeling slick and greasy.  I’ve loved all the Lush lotions Emma has thrown my way so far, so I was excited to try out another bestseller.

Brand/product: Sikkim Girls Body Lotion by Lush. Lush says, “Jasmine flowers infused with vanilla pods and Darjeeling tea creates the soothing base. Unpreserved and beautifully rich, creamy butters and hemp oil nourish your skin while Tuberose, Jasmine and Frangipani essential oils entice others closer.  A sexy, nourishing cream that will leave you feeling seduced after the bath or shower.”

Lush Ultrabland Cleanser

ultrabland45-500x500

Have you noticed we’re on a bit of a Lush roll at the moment? Maybe it’s a subconscious New Year’s resolution, but I’m determined to get the reviews up of the products we have been given at the 2013 Lush blogger events. And yes, they are all honest reviews.

At last year’s May event we were given a facial cleanser called Ultrabland. Unfortunately, after a few trials I realised that it wasn’t going to suit my skin type. My skin is sensitive and the texture of this is quite thick which means you need to wipe it off with a flannel. Flannels (or face washers if that’s what you call them) are too rough on my skin. Usually I just wash my hands and then use water to splash the cleanser off my face. So, ultrabland sat in the cupboard for a while. I really didn’t want it to go to waste. As a beauty blogger I’m very conscious of using the products we are given – it’s more environmentally sustainable. So I passed this on to one of our contributors to review instead. Our guinea pig today is the divine Lisa Ginnane. Continue reading

So Christmas has come and gone (Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all) and with the festive season came the Limited Edition Christmas range products from Lush. It’s disappointing some of these products aren’t available all year round, but you still have time to make a quick pit stop and pick up the last of these babies – and best of all, they’re half off! These are two of my personal favourites.

Ed’s note: Even though we were given this at the Lush Christmas blogger event, our reviews are honest opinions. We don’t believe in sugar coating unless it’s on our food. Our guinea pig today is the lovely Lisa Ginnane. However, our contributor Andrea Reitano just sent through her thoughts as well (she bough the Lip Tint during a Lush shopping spree). So double the reviews today.  YAY!

Celebrating 2013 and Lush’s Limited-Edition Goodies

Lush goodies on top of the scarf  that they use as wrapping paper

Happy New Year’s Eve. I don’t know where this month has gone. Or the year for that matter. And what a year it has been. The blog was launched, I fell pregnant, I discovered my love for so many wonderful cruelty-free brands and also dabbled in making my own beauty products.

I want to end 2013 by giving a shout out to all our lovely readers who supported the blog. You make it all worthwhile. So thank you. I also want to thank all the companies who supported our blog too. As a part-time writer who has to juggle caring for a toddler (while being pregnant), funds are tight. So thanks Australis, Innoxa, Natio, Sukin, Mode, Trilogy, Inika and Lush for sending us freebies and helping us to discover cruelty-free options and saving the bunnies 🙂

Favourite Products For Healthy Hair

Unfortunately this is not my hair

“Wow, your hair is in such good condition.”

I never expected to hear this. My hair is fine, long, dyed blonde and is subjected to the ocean and chlorinated pools. There was also a time when I was living in England and the hairdressers there bleached the living daylights out of it so I’ve been in recovery for a while.

Maniday: Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Hand Cream

Happy Maniday y’all. What are you wearing today? I’ve got on Natio’s Maple nail polish. I know, I know! It’s spring and I should be embracing coral and fuchsia – just call me Rebel Salkild. But what I am REALLY excited about is Trilogy’s hand cream.
