It was my sister’s birthday recently. Her birthday is three weeks after mine and her gift to me was very, very generous so I wanted to give her something special. Something from the heart.
It had to be girly and smell good. And I wanted it to knock her socks off which meant it had to be super moisturising with a good amount of exfoliation. So after some experimentation I came up with Em’s Tickle-Me-Pink Body Scrub.
“Out, damned spot! Out, I say!” Lady Macbeth may have been a bit psycho but I can relate to her hysteria over spots. When a pimple recently surface on my chin I was like, “Cruel world, why hath thou bestowed on me crow’s feet and pimples? Woe is me.”
So I decided to try a couple of DIY recipes based on whatever I had in my pantry.
Is your skin feeling a little parched after too much sea and sun? A scrub can do wonders for skin. Sugar-based scrubs are great for people with sensitive skin as they’re more gentle than their salt-based cousins. Store-bought sugar scrubs can set you back between $15-$70 (yes SEVENTY) buckaroos. But this beauty product is one of the simplest and cheapest items you can make at home, from the couch. The brown sugar will exfoliate the dead skin while the oil works its magic leaving your skin feeling silky soft.
My four-step guide to the easiest and awesomest body scrub (if I do say so myself).
