I’m going out for dinner tomorrow and I don’t know what to wear – on my face! Actually, I don’t know what to wear on my body but it’s cold outside so probably black or navy. Dark colours make me feel a bit gloomy and unfestive. What better way to add a splash of colour than with a bright lipstick? I’m hoping that this product smackdown will help me decide whether my pout should be red or pink.
This time last year my baby was only five months old so I didn’t feel qualified for Mother’s Day presents. I don’t really feel qualified now either – my 17-month-old can’t drink out of a cup, let alone go shopping for gifts. So I’ve written a hypothetical Mother’s Day list and I figure I might as well share it with my dear readers. Who knows? It might even inspire you for gift ideas for your mum.
1) Inika Certified-Organic Liquid Foundation
I’ve heard such good things about this award-winning mineral makeup. For $65 a pop I probably should wait until I’ve used up my Face of Australia stuff. But if someone were to buy for it for me, like my partner, I’d feel like this.
A few of my favourite lipsticks
Browsing through the search referrers for my blog can be riveting – seriously. It’s interesting to see what terms people have googled before finding us. There are random ones (what shampoo does Dave Navarro use?) and kinky ones (long nail porn). But one recurring search I’ve noticed is about wearing lipstick on thin lips.
My first post for My Fair Lipstick was called How To Wear Bright Lipstick on Thin Lips and thanks to google search is now our third most-read article. I spoke about my lipstick phobia and how Fox in Flats and her style dare brought me out of my lipstick shell. But shortly after I hit publish I went back into hiding. Where did my confidence go?

A few weeks ago a little surprise came in the mail. My response was:
Was it a lipstick? Was it a lip gloss? No, it was super paste. Or should I say, a super stain? Whatever it was, this was one beauty item that needed a thorough going over. So I put on my thinking cap to work out who is the biggest lipstick junkie I know. Who could really get into the nitty, gritty of reviewing this lip product?

1) Cha Cha Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick by Australis.
I am just loving this lipstick. Moisturising, long lasting, and GREAT colour. What’s not to love? Cha Cha has cemented my new found love of bold lipstick.
Kate looking all cute and Eastery
I’m calling it – Easter is the most laid-back of holidays. Sure, it’s centred around food but it’s all pretty low key – rip open a bag of chocolate eggs or grab some hot cross buns and voilà – Easter is celebrated. Anzac Day means baking biscuits, Australia Day requires pavlova and/or lamingtons, and Christmas .. well, let’s not even think about it before I have a panic attack about how much there is to organise.
Easter is a time to veg out. We might get festive with our hair and make-up for New Year’s and Christmas but this particular holiday means pulling out the drawstring trackies and floppy t-shirts. Then let the gorging begin….
This week I was hit with a stomach bug. It was one of those nasty one-and-a-half dayers. So, when I was ready to face the real world, I decided to not just feel green but go green. First I did my nails – because having colour on my fingers always cheers me up. Next up I needed something to counteract those bloodshot eyes. I discovered a quick and easy way to add a bit of oompf to a drained face is with Australis Stayput Liner – it’s super fast and easy to use.
