Ed’s note: Today’s post comes from our contributor Andrea Reitano.
An age old trick to exfoliate dry and chapped lips was to gently scrub your pout with a soft, dry toothbrush. Applying a heavy layer of lip balm over your winter kissed lips in hope the dry skin will majestically soften, is somewhat effective too. But wonderful as hacking at your lips with a toothbrush or overusing a pot of lip balm is, there’s a much gentler, quicker and tastier method I highly recommend.
Brand/Product: Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub (Vegan).
Flavour: Mint Chocolate, it smells (and tastes) delicious!
Price: $9.95 for a 25g pot from Lush stores on online.
Why we love it: Lip scrubs take all the hard work out of exfoliating. Just the tiniest amount on your finger is all that’s needed to scrub away dry skin immediately. The castor sugar gently exfoliates while the myriad of natural oils (jojoba included) softens your lips. Then you just lick away the residue … which may or may not be the reason I tested it out three times in a row. Mint Julips tastes exactly as its smells, so if you have a weakness for choc mint you may go through the little tub faster than intended.
Verdict: It’s an absolute yay. I really enjoyed Lush’s mint lip scrub for more than just the flavour. It does exactly what it claims and the results are lasting. If you want to get the most out of Lush’s lip scrub I suggest you use a lip balm after to keep your pout softened for longer, especially in winter when your lips are more prone to chap and chafe.
Ed’s Notes: This product was sent to us in the lead up to Lush’s Cruelty Free Kisses campaign.
